The People of Distinction Humanitarian Awards, PDHA, an organization in the United States listed the Chairman and Founder of 1Billion Africa, Prince Adu-Appiah as one of the 23 people to be awarded at their annual awards event, happening this year on 28th October, 2014, at the City University of New York Graduate Center, New York City, USA.
The International Category, Unsung Hero humanitarian award was presented to honor the courage, passion and leadership of the 1BA Chair for his commitment to actions that lead to transformation within his sphere of contact, and for the very inspiring and audacious vision; 1Billion Africa. The award seeked to inspire many young Africans to engage in humanity service and projects that lead to transformation in their communities, regions and countries.

Two people from 1Billion Africa attended the event to receive the humanitarian award on behalf of the Chairman and the organization. They include Mr. Gordon Tredgold, an International Advisory Panel member of 1BA who lives in Dusseldorf, Germany, and Ms. Viola Tebah, a 1BA Ambassador in the United States, who lives in Maryland. They well represented 1Billion Africa at the event, read the acceptance speech and received the award.

The actress, Dee Wallace, popularly known for her starring role in Steven Spielberg’s movie classic “ET: The Extraterrestrial, the internationally known speaker, consultant and writer, Rosemarie Rossetti, actorJohnathon Schaech, best recognized for his on-screen work, including his famous role of ‘Jimmy Mattingly‘ in THAT THING YOU DO opposite Tom Hanks, Michael “Sandy Claus” Sciaraffo founder of theSecret Sandy Claus Project which was featured in every newspaper around the world, and attracted the attention of the Associated Press, CNN , ABC World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer, Fox News Channel and CBS National News, CEO of MPettignano Enterprises, 26 year old Melissa Pettignano, Rev. Igho Lewis Yegbeburu, U.S. Marine Chief Warrant Officer 4 Nick J. D’Andrea , Dr. William (“Billy”) Karesh, Nancy Garlick and some others.
The People of Distinction Unsung and Sung Heroes awards is founded by Al Cole, an ace radio broadcaster and a communications professional with over a decade in the communications industry. His passion for society and national development sparked the need to reward deserving people worldwide who are influencing lives and transforming their communities. Al Cole and the PDHA are honoring these people for their great contribution to the service of the human family.
